Our Barn
The barn arrives in July, and sits and waits. Craig was working many, many long hours this summer

After having to keep our horses at Grandma Deb's for a couple of years, we are finally able to try and get our own barn up. It is a cute little 30x40 building, but will feel great to finally have our critters back home! Thanks Deb, for your hospitality.

Progess has been slow because everyone has been so busy, Craig hurt his back, and then John took ill. We are so thankful to those that had a hand in raising this barn! We couldn't have done it without you. We are a ways from "move in", but we are picking away at it now. Many thanks to Joc, Tom, Johnny W, Rich, Jimmy, Tim, Donovan, Grandpa Shepherd, Grandpa Mackinder, and neighbor Larry. You guys rock!

Craig & Jeremy drill the holes. This took a while! We had to "water" the holes. The earth was so dry and hard, the auger couldn't penetrate.
Poles and tresses are up!!

Here is our little barn in December now. Sometimes this is just the way life goes. We have two strands of wire up around the pasture area! And Craig is almost done with the doors for the barn!
We will just keep picking away at it!
January has come and gone, and wow...it sure was cold!! Very little progress made on the horse barn, and now with the bird barn gone, we will need to replace that before getting back to the horse barn. The chickens are dealing with their temporary house just fine, but the peacocks are struggling, and need to be able to get up off the ground. Hopefully this cold snap breaks soon! It is so hard on the animals.
We've made some progress!! Craig is getting some doors on the front now, and we've got the people door put in. The tack area is started with the framing for the wall done, and a "floor". He has built two stalls.Nothing fancy, but that's okay! I'm excited to have them. We made some stall mats out of old conveyor belting.--but only had enough for two stalls. We will try to have four stalls across that whole side before we call it done.
